Imran Niazi's Lawyer Babar Awan Acknowledges Communication During Custody
Contrary to PTI Chairman Imran Niazi's claim of being unaware of developments during his National Accountability Bureau (NAB) custody, his lawyer Babar Awan acknowledged that he had been in contact with the former prime minister.
In his first address since his release, Niazi stated that he had been unaware of the events transpiring after his apprehension. He emphasized that his party workers were not involved and called for an independent investigation to uncover the truth.
Speaking to Arab News, Awan disclosed that Khan had been kept uninformed and deprived of access to television during his custody.
When asked how he became aware of Imran's lack of TV access, Awan responded after a momentary pause, stating, "I reside in this city... We find ways to connect."
Imran Niazi was arrested on May 9 by Rangers personnel from the Islamabad High Court following a warrant from the NAB.
According to Babar Awan, Imran Niazi had expressed a refusal to request any facilities during their conversation.
It should be noted that on May 11, Imran Khan informed the Supreme Court that his mobile phone had been confiscated, rendering him unaware of the country's events.
Previously, an audio leak purportedly featuring Imran emerged, wherein he could be heard instructing his party to challenge his arrest in the highest court.
The lawyer clarified that Niazi had not met with any individuals from the establishment during his detention.
Babar Awan affirmed that the interrogation had been exclusively conducted by the NAB.
